Hello there, miss me? Didn’t think so :D
I’m back because I thought it best to use this blog for what it was originally created for: A brain dump for my Media Studies work. I’m not saying that that is all I’ll be talking about but I used to find it helpful for my Media work. Thus why I thought that bringing it back for this purpose was a good idea.
So, critical research. Now that I’ve finished my coursework (bar the write-up) and exam stress is at a minimum, this is a good time to concentrate on my research. Here’s a reminder of my question: “How is the perception of Muslims and Islam affected by TV and film?” I have a number of things I can do:
- Re-watch “Shoot On Sight”, a film based on the 2007 London bombings, and analyse how they are treated in and out of the film.
- Re-watch “24 – Season 2″. Season 2 specifically because the antagonist is a Muslim terrorist group.
- Re-watch “Body Of Lies”. A complex story about secret terrorist organisations in the Middle East.
- Explore my own views on the Muslim world, as well as others that have had an experience of living around Muslims.
- (Somehow) talk to real muslims whether or not their lives have been affected by racial prejudice.
- Ask people, who only know Muslims through the Media, what their personal views are.
As you can see, I have a lot on my plate. One question still remains: Where the hell to start?! My instinct would say watch the films first, but Body Of Lies doesn’t come out on DVD until May and I don’t haveĀ 24. I need MONEEEEY.
I’ll leave you now for the time being, I think it is safe to assume that I’ll write more often so stay tuned!
